“Hello, my name is Carlos H. Campoverde, and I have been the Permanent Deacon at Assumption Church since June 2011. I was born and grew up in Cuenca, Ecuador, earning my degree in Education (specializing in Phys Ed, Sports and Recreation) from the Universidad Católica de Cuenca. In Ecuador, I worked for a number of banks and eventually became involved in pastoral social work for the Archdiocese of Cuenca. I came to the United States in 1999 and continued my education at St. Joseph’s Seminary, being ordained a Deacon of the Archdiocese of New York in 2011. I’ve been married to my wonderful wife, Ines, for 36 years, and we have three grown sons – Carlos, Pedro and Christian – of whom we are so proud. In addition to my duties as Deacon, I was a founder of the Hispanic Ministry at Assumption and currently act as Coordinator of its many programs. I am especially proud to have witnessed the growth of the Spanish ministries at Assumption in the almost 20 years I’ve been a part of this parish. It is truly a “live” Church!”
